Senior Geotechnical Engineer required from September 2022. Location either Birmingham, Warrington, London or Milton Keynes. Other locations may be available to the right candidate.

Key responsibilties

As an experienced senior geotechnical engineer, you will be accountable for the technical quality and delivery of technical reports and calculations for mainline (and non mainline) earthworks assets. You will also be accountable for driving the geotechnical delivery to programme.
Drawing upon your experience as a team leader, the role will involve leading a small geotechnical team as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, and reporting to the Ground Engineering Lead and Geotechnical PM.

The main responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:

Technical leadership and guidance to junior team members.
Overseeing the production and delivery of the geotechnical calculations, drawing, specifications and technical reports for the mainline and non mainline assets in line with programme.
Work in collaboration with other dersign disciplines to ensure integrity of the overall design solution.
Ensuring QA/QC measures are followed.
Participation in the resolution of technical issues.
Become familiar with, and compliant with, HS2 Standards.
Provide progress updates to Ground Engineeing Lead and Geotechnical PM on a weekly basis.

Minimum Academic Qualifications

MEng in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical bias
MSc/MEng Geotechnical Engineering
MSc Engineering Geology
Chartered status

Knowledge and Experience:

Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in leading small teams.
Have experience of mentoring and technically supporting junior staff.
Capable of planning and managing their own tasks, and that of their team, to time, budget and quality.
Should be competent in all aspects of earthworks geotechnical design including slope stability, ground movement assessments, damage assesments, earthworks specifications and instrumentation and monitoring.
Working knowledge of geotechnical software packages such as SlopeW, PDisp and Plaxis.
Competent in the evaluation and interpretation of ground investigation data.
Strong technical report writing with clear verbal communication skills. Cabable of presenting ideas and working collaboratively within the team.
Should be able to produce clear, concise calculation packs with minimal support.
Should have an understanding of CAD drafting software
Should be competent in the use of GIS (Geographic information system)
Are required to have an understanding of HoleBASE SI
Should be fully familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.

This is an inside IR35 role with excellent rates.
